Suspect charged after confrontation with Windsor police

Windsor police say a 22-year-old man was arrested for allegedly starting a fight and assaulting an officer.

Officers were called at around noon on Friday to Wyandotte Street East near Marentette Avenue. They learned that a man was behaving erratically, hit someone, and then threw a chair at the victim's vehicle.

Police found the suspect on Wyandotte East near Aylmer Avenue. When officers tried to take the suspect into custody, the man struck one of them in the face. Following a short chase, the suspect was subdued and arrested.

The man is charged with assault, assaulting a peace officer, resisting arrest, and mischief under $5,000.

The charges have yet to be proven in court.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
