Essex needs your help with its Official Plan

Those living in the Town of Essex can offer their two cents on the town's draft Official Plan and Colchester Secondary Plan at a series of upcoming open houses.

The first one is on Wednesday, August 28, at the Colchester Harbour Community Centre. The event starts at 5 p.m. and focuses on the secondary plan for Colchester.

The second is Wednesday, September 4, at Essex Arena in the Shaheen Room. The meeting focused on Essex's municipal-wide official plan starts at 5 p.m.

Residents have a second opportunity to view the official plan at the third open house at the Harrow Arena Community Room. That's on Wednesday, September 11, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.

The official plan contains the town's goals, objectives, and policies guiding land use, development, and growth. It was officially adopted in 2009 and updated in 2015. The town reviews and updates it regularly.

The public can submit written comments online until Monday, September 30. The public can view the plan at the Town of Essex Gesto Office on County Road 12.

The Colchester Secondary Plan has been updated to account for residential and commercial growth in Colchester.
