Tecumseh celebrating Bert Lacasse Ballpark's grand reopening

The Town of Tecumseh is celebrating the grand reopening of the Bert Lacasse Ballpark this weekend after $5 million of renovations.

The renovations include a new grandstand with increased seating capacity, team locker rooms, a training facility, and improved public amenities like washrooms and concessions.

"It's a completely new transformation. It is an amazing ballpark," said Tecumseh Mayor Gary McNamara. "Now it's in the very echelon of real professional type development for baseball."

The project costs were split by the Town of Tecumseh, St. Clair College, St. Clair College Alumni Association, Tecumseh Baseball, and the federal government.

The official grand opening starts at 3 p.m. Sunday. Tours will be available after the ceremony. There will be an alumni game at 4 p.m. before the Tecumseh Thunder game at 7 p.m.

There will also be lawn games and other family activities throughout the event.

"Come on down, take an opportunity to see a modern, state-of-the-art baseball facility," said McNamara.
