Amherstburg to choose tender for pickleball courts at Libro Centre

Amherstburg Town Councillors could approve a tender to build new pickleball courts at the Libro Centre.

The Jones Group had the lowest bid of the nine submitted, and a report to council recommends accepting the offer.

It offered to build eight pickleball courts for $468,568. The highest bid was $801,692.

The budget for the project is $450,000, so a funding shortfall will come from the town's Parkland Dedication Reserve Fund.

Councillors approved the project over a year ago.

Town administrators met several times with the Amherstburg Pickleball Association on the design.

Amherstburg Town Council meets on Monday night.

Last week, the Town of LaSalle started construction on six pickleball courts on Front Road.
