High levels of air pollution are possible this afternoon.

An AIR QUALITY WARNING is in place due to the possibility of deteriorating air quality. Hot and sunny conditions are expected to cause increasing ground-level ozone concentrations this afternoon. Moderate risk AQHI values are expected throughout the day with the potential of short-term high risk AQHI values in the afternoon.

When air pollution levels are high, everyone should limit time outdoors. Consider reducing or rescheduling outdoor sports, activities and events.

You may experience mild and common symptoms such as eye, nose and throat irritation, headaches or a mild cough. More serious but less common symptoms include wheezing, chest pains or severe cough. If you think you are having a medical emergency, seek immediate medical assistance.

People more likely to be impacted by outdoor air pollution, including people aged 65 and older, pregnant people, infants and young children, people with an existing illness or chronic health condition, and people who work outdoors, should reduce or reschedule strenuous activities outdoors and seek medical attention if experiencing symptoms.

Windsor police have charged a local contractor after multiple homeowners were defrauded of nearly $600,000.The Windsor Police Financial Crimes Unit said the 41-year-old was charged with defrauding 10 individuals out of a total of $593,247 between March 2021 and June 2023.According to police, the suspect solicited deposits ranging from $20,000 to $115,000 under the guise of completing various construction projects.One victim reported they gave the contractor $20,000 to start excavation work on their property. The contractor requested an additional $75,000 to continue the project. After receiving the funds, he did not return to complete the job.The suspect is now facing 10 charges of fraud over $5,000.
