Windsor woman charged in romance scam

Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have arrested a 26-year-old woman following a fraud investigation.

Police at the Lakeshore detachment received a complaint in February. The victim told police they had been defrauded of $18,500.

The victim said they had been in a relationship with the suspect that included intimate activities. The woman then said she was pregnant and wanted money for medical expenses.

The Windsor woman was arrested on June 6. She is charged with fraud over $5,000.

The suspect was released and will have a chance to respond to the charge at a later date in a Windsor court.

The investigation is ongoing.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
