Alleged serial thief arrested by Windsor Police

Going back to May 11, Windsor Police have investigated eight thefts from different stores in the city, and in all of the cases, the suspect had a similar description.

Now, police have made an arrest.

A 38-year-old man faces nine counts of theft under $5,000, two of operating a motor vehicle while prohibited, two more counts of possession of property obtained by crime, use of a credit card obtained by crime, and one count each of failure to comply with conditions of probation and failure to comply with a release order.

Police say in each incident, a man walked into a store, selected power tools, outdoor equipment, and other items, and left without paying.

Investigators also had video of the suspect using a stolen debit card and leaving in a stolen vehicle.

A year ago, the suspect was released from custody on the condition he did not possess any debit or credit card that wasn't in his name. Following a separate conviction in May, he was ordered not to have a motor vehicle.

Officers arrested the suspect on Wednesday during a traffic stop on Wyandotte Street East between Strabane Avenue and Sterling Crescent.
