Lakeshore's mayor has urged the public to give the OPP a call if they have information about hateful graffiti in a local park.
It happened sometime between 4 p.m. on Monday, and 7 a.m. on Tuesday, at River Ridge Park.
Crews were at River Ridge Park earlier this week, cleaning up discriminatory graffiti.
"There is no space for hate in Lakeshore, and I appreciate our staff’s quick response to remove those messages," said Mayor Tracey Bailey. "We want to ensure that Lakeshore’s incredible parks and public spaces are welcoming to all, and we urge anyone with information on these types of incidents to contact the OPP."
Frank Jeney, the Municipality's corporate director of community health and safety, said people need to treat others the way they'd want others to treat them.
"Not only are these messages hurtful, but the cleanup efforts also pull Lakeshore staff away from other projects," said Jeney. "We will continue to take these opportunities to educate residents on the impact of these actions, as well as the importance of respecting each other and protecting our public spaces."
Anyone with information on this incident should call the OPP at 1-888-310-1122. Anonymous tips may be submitted to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
The Municipality has also reminded residents that all reports of graffiti should be directed to the Public Service Unit at (519) 728-2700. Staff will document any cases before it is removed, and then forward them to police.
