The City of Windsor is giving residents living near the Ojibway Prairie Complex a heads up that it will spray herbicide next week to control Phragmites Australis.
Crews will spray along the trail system and natural areas within Ojibway Park, Tallgrass Prairie Heritage Park, Titcombe Trail, and the Spring Garden Natural Area in West Windsor starting Monday.
The work should wrap up on September 27.
Trails will remain open during spraying, and the city doesn't anticipate harm to human health.
"All potential human health and safety concerns are effectively mitigated using application techniques," said a release from the city.
Crews will spray Methylated Seed Oil Concentrate #28385 and WeatherPRO #33653, which contains glyphosate.
Glyphosate can cause skin, eye, nose, and throat irritation in humans, but can also be toxic to dogs, causing lethargy, hypersalivation, vomiting, and diarrhea.
Phragmites Australis has an ecosystem protection exemption to the cosmetic pesticide ban.
