LaSalle to swear in new police chief on Monday

After announcing a new police chief in June, the LaSalle Police Service will officially welcome Michael Pearce to the agency on Monday.

LaSalle Police are holding a change of command ceremony at the LaSalle Landing Event Centre. The event starts at 5:30 p.m.

Essex MPP Anthony Leardi, LaSalle Mayor Crystal Meloche, and Essex County Warden Hilda MacDonald will join members of the LaSalle Police Service when Pearce takes his oath of office. The Honourable Justice Maria Carroccia of the Ontario Court of Justice will administer the oath.

Pearce succeeds Chief Duncan Davies, who retired after 30 years of service on October 1.

Pearce served as the Inspector in charge of the Community Patrol Branch with the Chatham-Kent Police Service before accepting the position in LaSalle.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
