NDP sets priorities for upcoming legislative session

Marit Stiles and the NDP are urging the Ford government to focus on affordable housing, accessible health care and school renewal funds as legislature resumes next week.

Stiles visited Windsor Thursday to discuss priorities with residents. The new legislative session at Queen's Park officially begins on Monday.

"We should be focusing on housing, we should be making sure that Ontarians have a family doctor when they need one. We should be making sure that our whole province, the hard working people of Ontario have the shot they need at a better life," said Stiles.

Stiles said if the NDP were in power, she would ensure the government get back into the business of building affordable housing.

"We believe that we cannot rely on the market alone, we need to kickstar this and to do that we need the government to get back in the business of building truly affordable, not-for-profit homes," said Stiles.

The NDP is also demanding more investment into the current repair backlog for Ontario schools. According to the NDP, Ontario schools are in need of over $16 billion in repairs.
