Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a home in McGregor shortly before 1:30 a.m. Saturday, on a report of an altercation.
The victim was treated for injuries at a hospital.
The Essex resident is now charged with aggravated assault. He was being held for a bail hearing at the Ontario Court of Justice in Windsor.
The charge has not been proven in court.
Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
