Gunshots fired in south Windsor neighbourhood

Windsor police are investigating after multiple shots were fired in a south Windsor neighbourhood on Monday night.

Police were called to the area of Mount Royal Drive and Cousineau Road just before midnight. When they arrived, they found a person with a gunshot wound in the lower leg.

The person was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Investigators said they found several spent shell casings in the street and bullet holes in several vehicles.

Police believe the victim and suspects were known to each other. According to investigators, an older model light-coloured Dodge Caravan approached the victim and a group of friends. The occupants of the vehicle fired shots from the passenger side window and left the area travelling southbound on Mount Royal Drive.

Anyone in the area with surveillance cameras is asked to review their footage between 11 p.m. and 12 a.m. for possible evidence.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Windsor Police Major Crimes Unit at 519-255-6700, ext. 4830.
