Impaired driving charges laid after vehicle crashes into road sign

A Pembroke man faces a charge after a vehicle crashed into a large solar-powered construction sign on Tecumseh Road East.

Windsor Police say the collision toppled the sign on Tecumseh Road East near Albert Road around 10 p.m. on Sunday.

Not surprisingly, the involved vehicle suffered significant damage.

Officers found both the vehicle and the driver in a parking lot on Tecumseh Road East near Howard Avenue and realized the man was impaired while they spoke with him.

It turns out he had twice the legal blood alcohol limit.

The 61-year-old was arrested and charged with impaired driving.

Windsor Police warn drivers they've stepped up their presence on city streets and roads in Amherstburg during the holiday season as part of its Festive Ride Campaign.
