OPP arrests pair of alleged impaired drivers

Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers were again busy dealing with alleged impaired driving.

The Essex County detachment responded to a pair of incidents on Saturday.

The first was shortly before 2:30 a.m. in Belle River. An OPP officer was on patrol when they spotted a vehicle and conducted a traffic stop on Notre Dame Street.

A 38-year-old Lakeshore man was arrested on a charge of excessive blood-alcohol concentration.

The second was before 9:30 p.m. in Essex, with a two-vehicle crash on Wilson Avenue.

A 27-year-old Tecumseh man is charged with impaired driving and driving with excessive blood alcohol concentration.

Both will have a chance to respond to the counts in the weeks ahead in a Windsor court.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
