WRH seeks construction manager for acute care hospital

Windsor Regional Hospital has issued a request for proposals for a construction manager to complete the first phase of construction on the new acute care hospital.

The first phase will include a parking garage, an education, learning and administrative building, and site works for infrastructure supporting future phases.

The hospital hopes to have shovels in the ground by 2026, if not sooner.

It issued another RFP earlier this year for a design team to complete drawings for the build, and a separate tendering process will come at a later stage to build the rest of the project.

Until a design team and construction manager are hired the hospital won't release further details.

The cost of the hospital was estimated to be $2-billion. The province has offered to pay 90 per cent of the bill. The City of Windsor and the County of Essex are expected to come up with the remaining $200-million.
