Two fire fatalities in two days

A man has died following a fire at an apartment on Ouellette Avenue.

This is the second fatal fire in the city in two days.

Windsor Fire and Rescue crews responded to the blaze on the 16th floor of 920 Ouellette on Sunday.

The Office of the Ontario Fire Marshall was notified and concluded the investigation. The cause and damage estimate has not been released.

Officials with Windsor Fire and Rescue Services say the exact cause of death is unknown.

On Monday, a 71-year-old woman died after a fire on Sandwich Street. This fire caused around $250,000 in damage.

Fire officials say the smoke alarm outside the home's sleeping area was not working at the time of the blaze.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
