Street Help Windsor getting food donation to start 2025

A Windsor organization that helps people experiencing homelessness is getting a big donation to start off 2025.

The Windsor Sports and Culture Centre and Windsor Sikh Community are donating groceries to Street Help Homeless Centre of Windsor. Included in the groceries is 200 kg of rice.

It wasn’t specified how much is being donated, however, Street Helps’ Administrator Christine Wilson believes it will help them feed people for a couple of months.

She explained they’re currently feeding around 400 people a day. Wilson added some of the people they’re helping have homes but can’t afford to pay for rent and food.

“We’re more like a takeout service right now,” she said.

Back on Christmas and Boxing Day, the Windsor Sports and Culture Centre and Windsor Sikh Community donated 95 pizzas to help feed everyone over the holidays.

The latest donation also includes 50 blankets and cleaning supplies.

Wilson explained the two groups have been huge supporters for the past 20 years.
