UPDATE: Vehicle seen near Amherstburg fire sought

Windsor police are investigating a suspicious fire in Amherstburg over the weekend.

The fire on Cowan Court broke out early Saturday. It took three stations and 34 firefighters to get the fire under control.

The blaze at the unfinished home caused around $750,000 in damages.

This was the third suspicious fire at the same home. In September 2023, a deliberate fire caused nearly $4 million in damages to the home and a second property. An intentional blaze the following September caused about $1.6 million in damages.

The investigation was handed over to the Windsor Police Service once the fire was determined to be suspicious.

On Monday afternoon, police released a surveillance image of a black luxury SUV seen in the area at the time of the incident.

Anyone with information should call the Windsor police's Arson Unit at (519) 255-6700, ext. 4330. Anonymous tips may be submitted to Crime Stoppers at (519) 258-TIPS (8477).
