Police investigating early morning shooting

Windsor Police are investigating a shooting that took place in the early morning hours on Sunday.

According to police, just before 3 a.m. on January 26, police were called regarding gunshots in the 3800 block of Birch Street. Officers were dispatched to the area where they quickly located a man with a gunshot wound. The victim was transported to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Investigators determined the victim was shot after an altercation at a house party. The Windsor Police Major Crimes Unit is now investigating. Police add they believe this is an isolated incident.

Residents in the area, particularly those in the vicinity of Birch Street and Prince Road, are asked to check their surveillance or dashcam footage between 2:30 a.m. and 3:30 a.m. for video evidence that may assist with the investigation.

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
