Windsor police seek woman in vehicle fraud case

Windsor police's Financial Crimes Unit has asked the public for help finding a woman who allegedly bought a vehicle using a fake identity.

Investigators learned on Monday about someone who had a vehicle purchased last month fraudulently under her name.

Police soon learned that a woman had opened a bank account and obtained an auto loan under the victim's name. The vehicle was purchased at a dealership in Mississauga.

The suspect is described as an Indigenous woman, about 20 to 30 years old, with a medium build, fair complexion, black hair, and brown eyes.

She is wanted for fraud over $5,000, obtaining by false pretenses over $5,000, identity fraud, identity theft, possessing another person's identity, using a forged document, possession of a counterfeit mark, and possession of stolen property over $5,000.
