Stolen pickup investigation uncovers illicit drugs

A 51-year-old man who allegedly stole a pickup truck also faces drug-related charges after Windsor Police seized fentanyl, cocaine, and crack cocaine.

Police received a report about a stolen pickup truck on Lloyd George Boulevard near Queen Elizabeth Drive on January 19.

The complainant said a stranger had come to his home the day before to buy an item listed on an online classified site. When the man left, he noticed his keys were missing.

During the investigation, police identified the suspect and went to arrest him.

They found him on Tuesday on McKay Avenue between Norfolk Street and Richardie Boulevard.

During the arrest, police seized $12,000 worth of illicit drugs.

The Ontario Provincial Police found the pickup truck in Kingsville. It's been returned to its owner.

The suspect faces three counts of possession of a scheduled I substance for the purpose of trafficking, theft of a motor vehicle, and operation of a motor vehicle while prohibited.

The charges have not been proven in court.
