Suspect charged in weekend robbery of a LaSalle business

The Windsor police Amherstburg detachment helped arrest a man suspected of holding up a LaSalle business over the weekend.

LaSalle police were called shortly before 1 a.m. Sunday to the business on Front Road near International Avenue, for a report of an armed robbery. Officers learned that a man entered the establishment, threatened an employee with a knife, and stole merchandise and cash.

The man then fled in a U-Haul vehicle.

A suspect was found in Amherstburg shortly after and arrested by Windsor police.

The 28-year-old is charged with robbery, wearing a disguise to commit an offence, possession of a dangerous weapon, uttering threats to cause bodily harm, and three counts of failure to comply with an order.

The man is also facing charges by Windsor police for separate offences.

The charges have not been proven in court.
