Officer injured during break-and-enter in Windsor

A 29-year-old man was arrested following a break-and-enter in progress in Windsor's east end.

On Wednesday, February 5, shortly after 8:30 p.m. police responded to a residence at the intersection of Rossini Boulevard and Seminole Street.

The suspect allegedly entered the property, and took jewelry, money and medical prescriptions.

Windsor police said when the homeowner arrived and spotted the suspect, the man allegedly barricaded himself inside of a bedroom.

Officers quickly arrived at the home and attempted to negotiate with the suspect. When talks failed police breached the bedroom door and arrested the man following a brief struggle.

Police said one officer sustained minor injuries during the incident.

The man has been charged with break-and-enter and commit into dwelling-house, resisting a peace officer and failure to comply with a release order.
