UPDATE: Belle River street reopens following fire

A section of Notre Dame Street in Lakeshore was closed Wednesday afternoon while crews battled a fire.

Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) say Lakeshore firefighters were called to Notre Dame between North Street and Chisholm Street.

The OPP asked drivers to avoid the area until it was cleared. Shortly after 8 p.m., officials said that fire crews had left the area and that Notre Dame Street had reopened to the public.

Police said that no further investigation is necessary, as the fire is not believed to be suspicious.

No injuries were reported.
