K9 helps with arrest after break and enter

A suspect has been arrested in connection to two break-and-enters in east Windsor.

Windsor police reported officers were called to a home on Westminster Boulevard after the homeowner discovered their garage was broken into overnight. The homeowner reported over $11,000 worth of personal items stolen.

Officers reviewed surveillance footage and launched an investigation to identify the suspect.

Around 11 p.m. that same day, officers were called to a break-in at a business on Tecumseh Road near Jefferson Boulevard.

A suspect was tracked down with the help of K9 officer Link. The suspect was arrested after a brief foot chase. Police say the investigation confirmed that the same suspect was responsible for the earlier residential break-in.

The 28-year-old was charged with two counts of break and enter.

Investigators say the man had an outstanding warrant for theft under $5,000 and failure to comply with a release order.
