Lisa Gretzky is returning to Queens Park to represent the people of Windsor-West for the fourth time.
According to the unofficial election results, Gretzky received 19,392 votes or 52 per cent of the ballots cast. In the last election, she got 42 per cent of the votes.
"I got a stronger mandate that last election, and they've shown Doug Ford that what's important here is health care, a strong publicly funded, publicly delivered health care system, that they want investments in our public education system," said Gretzky.
Tony Francis, candidate for the PC Party of Ontario, came in second place with 39 per cent of the vote.
"While this was not the result we had hoped for, I am immensely proud of the campaign we ran and the conversations we had with thousands of residents across Windsor West,” said Francis. “The challenges facing Windsor West remain, and my commitment to this community is as strong as ever. We must unite in our support for the hardworking men and women of this riding, because their voices matter, and their future is worth fighting for.”
Gretzky said she is ready to get back to work.
"I'm going to continue to do what I've always done, which is listen to the residents of Windsor-West, fight for the things that matter to them and stand up to Doug Ford," said Gretzky.
Matthew Giancola (Ontario Party), Mark Dewdney (None of the Above Direct Democracy Party), Nick Kolasky (Green Party of Ontario), and Joshua Griffin (New Blue Party) also ran for Windsor-West.
There was a 38 per cent voter turnout in Windsor-West this election. That's an increase from 2022 when only 33.62 per cent of voters cast a ballot.
