ERCA watching conditions as rain falls

The Essex Region Conservation Authority is keeping a close eye on watershed conditions.

The authority has issued a watershed conditions statement. Forecasters predict 15-25 millimetres of rain between Tuesday and Wednesday.

The rainfall amount and existing saturated ground conditions could create ponding and areas of standing water.

This amount and duration of precipitation falls below Flood Watch thresholds. However, the authority is watching conditions closely.

People should use extra caution and avoid areas that are flooding, as well as rivers, streams, and shoreline areas.

The watershed conditions statement will be in effect until noon Thursday.
