Windsor police arrest robbery suspect

A 29-year-old is facing charges after allegedly choking a store employee to steal cigarettes.

Windsor police say they responded to a robbery at a business on Wyandotte Street East near Marentette Avenue around 9:30 p.m. Monday. Investigators learned that a man entered the store, forced his way across the counter, and choked an employee while demanding cigarettes.

After a brief struggle, the suspect stole the cigarettes and left the store.

The employee had non-life-threatening injuries.

Officers reviewed the store's surveillance video and identified a suspect.

Just before 11 p.m. the suspect was arrested in the area of Park Street and Pelissier Street. He was charged with robbery.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
