Sudden death in Leamington has been ruled a homicide

The Ontario Provincial Police are investigating the murder of an 83-year-old woman in Leamington.

Officers were called to a home on Sherk Street on Wednesday afternoon after they got a request to conduct a wellness check.

Inside the home, they found a body.

The postmortem examination, conducted by the Ontario Forensic Pathology Service, determined the homicide.

Investigators identified the deceased as Anita Goodings.

Police have only a limited description of a person of interest in the case, a white man with a muscular build.

Investigators believe the death is an isolated incident.

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
