Suspect arrested in series of attempted robberies

Windsor police have arrested a 20-year-old man after he allegedly threatened a family with violence and tried to hold up several businesses.

Police responded to a call at around 7 p.m. on Saturday from a business on Wyandotte Street West near Partington Avenue. They learned that a man appeared and threatened employees with a butcher knife before being chased off.

A short time later, the man entered another business in the same neighbourhood, showed the knife, and screamed at customers and an employee before fleeing.

A few minutes after that, the man approached a vehicle at Wyandotte West and Partington that was occupied by two adults and a child. The man brandished the knife and demanded money. When the driver tried to leave, the man punctured one of the vehicle's tires.

Police arrested a man shortly after on Randolph Avenue near College Avenue.

He is charged with three counts of possessing a dangerous weapon, and one count of mischief under $5,000, failure to comply with a release order, and robbery.

The charges have not been proven in court.
