New measles exposure sites in Windsor-Essex

The Windsor-Essex County Health Unit is warning the public about new measles exposure sites.

Anyone who visited TMC Urgent Care and Kingsville IDA Pharmacy on March 11 from 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. should make sure they and anyone they've come in contact with are vaccinated.

Other sites include the Central Erie Shore Walk-In Clinic in Leamington on March 13 from 1 p.m. to 5:30 p.m., Windsor Regional Hospital – Metropolitan Campus on March 14 from 10:10 p.m. to 1:40 a.m., McDonald's on Talbot St. W in Leamington on March 16 from 1:30 p.m. to 4 p.m., and the Leamington Mennonite Church on March 16 from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m.

A complete list of exposure sites can be found online.

Along with getting vaccinated, anyone who may have been exposed to the measles virus should monitor for symptoms for seven to 21 days.

Symptoms include a mild to moderate fever, coughing, runny nose, and red eyes about 10-12 days after exposure. Tiny blue-white spots inside the mouth may also be present.

A red blotchy rash appears 3-7 days after these initial symptoms, usually on the face at first, along the hairline, and then spreading to the neck, trunk, arms, legs, and feet, lasting five to six days.
