Windsor Police investigate after child hit by vehicle

A nine-year-old is recovering after they were struck by a vehicle in downtown Windsor on Friday night.

Windsor Police said the child was trying to cross Wyandotte Street West near Church Street just after 6 p.m. when a vehicle struck them.

Police say the child wasn't crossing at a crosswalk, and the vehicle's driver stayed at the scene.

Paramedics and firefighters responded, and the child was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Officers held the scene for several hours during the on-site investigation.

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
