K9 unit apprehends attempted burglary suspect

LaSalle police had a little help from a four-legged officer finding a woman suspected of an attempted break-and-enter.

Officers responded to a break-in in progress on Bondy Avenue near Todd Lane at around 1:30 a.m. on Friday. They learned that the suspect was a former intimate partner of the victim, and she had run from the scene.

LaSalle police got the assistance of an Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) K-9 handler and Police Service Dog Vinny. It did not take long for Vinny to locate the suspect, who was still in the area.

The 28-year-old woman is facing multiple charges and is being held pending a bail hearing.

The charges have not been proven in court.
