Retail theft suspect arrested by Windsor police

Windsor police say a person connected to a series of shoplifting incidents has been arrested.

The alleged incidents happened between July 29 and November 11, 2024, and again on March 27.

Police say a man visited two hardware stores, one on Tecumseh Road and one on Division Road, on 12 occasions and stole merchandise.

A 47-year-old man was identified by police as a suspect on Wednesday.

He was arrested without incident on Pelissier Street near Elliott Street West and charged with 12 counts of theft.

The charges have not been proven in court.

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
