Suspect in vehicle arson arrested by Windsor police

A 42-year-old man has been charged following a pair of intentionally set vehicle fires.

Police responded just before 6 a.m. Monday to a gas station at Tecumseh Road East and Central Avenue. Officers found two vehicles with significant fire damage. Firefighters had worked to put the blaze out.

Investigators determined that one of the vehicles was set ablaze, and the flames spread to an adjacent vehicle. No one was hurt, but the fire resulted in about $30,000 in damage.

The suspect was discovered a short distance away, having locked himself in a public washroom. He is charged with arson causing property damage.
