Michigan driver charged with stunt driving

Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have cited a 20-year-old for going twice the speed limit on Highway 3 last week.

Shortly after 5:30 a.m. on Wednesday, an officer was conducting traffic enforcement on the highway in Essex when they spotted the vehicle and then conducted a traffic stop.

The driver, from Howell, Michigan, has been charged with stunt driving, failure to provide an insurance card, and failure to surrender a permit for a motor vehicle.

A 30-day licence suspension was imposed, and the driver's vehicle was impounded for 14 days.

The driver was released from custody and will have a chance to respond to the charges at a later date in an Ontario Provincial Traffic Court.
