Arrest warrant issued for arson suspect

Windsor police issued an arrest warrant for a third suspect who is wanted in connection with an arson in Amherstburg earlier this year.

Around 5 a.m. on January 18, emergency crews responded to a blaze at a new-build house on Cowan Court. The fire caused over $1 million in damages to the home and a neighbouring property.

It was the third time in 16 months that the property was the target of an arson attack.

Police have now issued a warrant for 20-year-old Sahib Pelia from Brampton.

Pelia is described as an East Indian man, approximately 5’11” tall, with a medium build, brown eyes, brown hair and beard, and a tattoo on his left hand. Police believe he lives in the Brampton area.

He is wanted on charges of arson causing property damage, possession of incendiary materials, and conspiracy to commit an indictable offence of arson.

Two other suspects were arrested last month in connection with the investigation.
