OPP lay impaired driving charges after crash on Hwy. 401

A 24-year-old Belle River resident faces impaired driving charges after a single-vehicle crash on Hwy. 401.

The Ontario Provincial Police responded to the crash in Lakeshore around 12:20 p.m. last Friday.

No one was hurt, but the driver is charged with operation of a motor vehicle while impaired by drugs or alcohol, operation of a motor vehicle with a blood alcohol concentration over the legal limit, and dangerous driving.

Police suspended the driver's license for 90 days and impounded their vehicle for seven days.

The suspect is expected to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Windsor on May 7.

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
