It's been three decades since voter turnout for an election was so high.
Elections Canada says 68.65 per cent of voters eligible to cast a ballot in Monday's federal vote did so. That's 19.5-million people.
More than 7.2-million voted in the advance polls over four days on the Easter long weekend.
Another 11-million voted at their polls on Monday, while 928,311 voted by special ballot within their electoral district, and another 57,440 living outside Canada voted by special ballot.
In this region, voter turnout was highest in Essex at 73.03 per cent, and lowest in Windsor West at 58.13 per cent. It was 68.04 per cent in Chatham-Kent-Leamington and 66.42 per cent in the new riding of Windsor-Tecumseh-Lakeshore.
Elections Canada said there were 1,959 candidates confirmed to run in the election from 16 registered parties.
Around 230,000 people worked during the election.
