Downtown Windsor celebrating Wellness Wednesdays again

The Canadian Mental Health Association Windsor Essex County Branch is encouraging businesses to participate in Wellness Wednesdays for the month of May.

The initiative encourages people to take a walk during their lunch break to support mental and physical health. This is the 9th year the CMHA-WECB has partnered with the City of Windsor for this Mental Health Week initiative.

"It's important for so many reasons. It's important for visibility, it's important for reducing stigma. It's important for just the physical aspect of it, getting up, leaving your desk and taking a walk outside, especially on such a beautiful day," said Nicole Sbrocca, Chief Executive Officer of the CMHA-WECB.

The event was kicked off with a one kilometre walk from Windsor City Hall through downtown along the riverfront.

The University of Windsor, St. Clair College, Windsor-Detroit Tunnel, Windsor Police Service, Windsor Fire and Rescue Services, and the Windsor Public Library are all participating in this year's event.
