Weapons, $36K seized in Windsor raid

A 21-year-old is facing numerous charges after Windsor police raided a home on Thursday.

Officers with the Drugs and Guns Enforcement (DIGS) Unit raided a house on Watkins Street off Sandwich Street at around 4 p.m. on Thursday. In the ensuing search, officers located and seized a Remington sawed-off shotgun, a loaded Taurus handgun, and a Smith & Wesson revolver.

Police also confiscated 48 rounds of ammunition, $36,000 in Canadian currency, and nine Oxycodone tablets.

One person was arrested and charged with three counts apiece of unauthorized possession of a firearm and careless storage of a firearm.

They are also charged with two counts of possession of a prohibited weapon with ammunition readily available, two counts of possession of a prohibited device, and one count of possession of a loaded or restricted firearm.

The charges have not been proven in court.
