LaSalle recognized for excellence in budget presentation

The Town of LaSalle has continued its streak of recognition for how it prepares and presents its budgets.

The Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) has given the Town its Distinguished Budget Presentation Award for the tenth straight year.

LaSalle's 2025 budget document was evaluated for how it serves as a policy document, an operations guide, a financial plan, and a communications tool. To qualify for the award, the budget must meet a proficiency rating in each of the four categories, plus all 14 mandatory criteria within those categories.

"This continued recognition is a reflection of the hard work, attention to detail, and collaboration that go into producing a high-quality budget document year after year," said Mayor Crystal Melcohe. "Kudos to our Finance Department for leading the charge, and to all departments for their contributions."

There were about 1,600 municipalities across Canada and the United States that participated in the awards program.
