High levels of air pollution are possible this afternoon.

An AIR QUALITY WARNING is in place due to the possibility of deteriorating air quality. Hot and sunny conditions are expected to cause increasing ground-level ozone concentrations this afternoon. Moderate risk AQHI values are expected throughout the day with the potential of short-term high risk AQHI values in the afternoon.

When air pollution levels are high, everyone should limit time outdoors. Consider reducing or rescheduling outdoor sports, activities and events.

You may experience mild and common symptoms such as eye, nose and throat irritation, headaches or a mild cough. More serious but less common symptoms include wheezing, chest pains or severe cough. If you think you are having a medical emergency, seek immediate medical assistance.

People more likely to be impacted by outdoor air pollution, including people aged 65 and older, pregnant people, infants and young children, people with an existing illness or chronic health condition, and people who work outdoors, should reduce or reschedule strenuous activities outdoors and seek medical attention if experiencing symptoms.

When a woman experienced a medical crisis on April 7, emergency services responded. It was their acts that saved the LaSalle resident's life.The Town of LaSalle celebrated their work at town council's meeting earlier this week by awarding them the Act of Heroism Award.The award is for those who display outstanding service, leadership or professionalism during an emergency or critical incident.Two LaSalle Police officers, Constable Bear and Constable Bedard, received the award, while three others, Sergeant Pare, Constable Hanna, and Constable Assef, received the Mayor's Commendation Award.Members of the LaSalle Fire Service and Essex-Windsor EMS were also recognized.
