Charges laid after vehicle theft

A man is facing charges after allegedly stealing a car and resisting arrest.

Windsor police report that a car left running and unattended on Janette Avenue was stolen around 8:30 a.m. Sunday.

A short time later, a patrol unit spotted the stolen SUV in a parking lot on Wyandotte Street. As the officer tried to take a suspect into custody, the man resisted and became combative. Police said the man tried to grab the officer's taser during the physical struggle.

The suspect was eventually arrested. The 33-year-old is facing charges of theft of a motor vehicle, resisting a peace officer, disarming a peace officer, possession of stolen property, and failure to comply with a release order.
