Windsor K9 officer helps in arrest of robbery suspect

Windsor police say a man is facing numerous weapons charges after an arrest Tuesday evening.

Officers were first called to an apartment building on Ouellette Avenue near Hanna Street at around 7 p.m. on Tuesday. Police learned that a man allegedly pulled a gun on another man who was outside the building. The suspect then ran off with a third person.

Police enlisted Police Service Dog Link to help track the suspects, located two blocks away on Goyeau Street. Both men were arrested there, and a loaded 9mm handgun was recovered.

A 45-year-old man is charged with pointing a firearm, possession of a loaded firearm, possession of a firearm without a licence, possession of a firearm with a defaced serial number, carrying a concealed weapon, and contravening section 117-H of the Firearms Act Regulation.

The other man was released without charges.

The charges have not been proven in court.
