High levels of air pollution are possible this afternoon.

An AIR QUALITY WARNING is in place due to the possibility of deteriorating air quality. Hot and sunny conditions are expected to cause increasing ground-level ozone concentrations this afternoon. Moderate risk AQHI values are expected throughout the day with the potential of short-term high risk AQHI values in the afternoon.

When air pollution levels are high, everyone should limit time outdoors. Consider reducing or rescheduling outdoor sports, activities and events.

You may experience mild and common symptoms such as eye, nose and throat irritation, headaches or a mild cough. More serious but less common symptoms include wheezing, chest pains or severe cough. If you think you are having a medical emergency, seek immediate medical assistance.

People more likely to be impacted by outdoor air pollution, including people aged 65 and older, pregnant people, infants and young children, people with an existing illness or chronic health condition, and people who work outdoors, should reduce or reschedule strenuous activities outdoors and seek medical attention if experiencing symptoms.

Baseball diamonds in Windsor and Amherstburg will be crowded today for a series of All-Star Miracle League Baseball events for special education students with the Greater Essex County District School Board.Students in the GAINS and STEPS programs will be paired with high school student leaders for a couple of days of teamwork, friendship, and fun.Events start Monday at the baseball diamonds at the Libro Complex in Amherstburg and the Miracle Diamond in Windsor.The events continue on Tuesday at the Libro Complex and June 2 and 4 at both locations.
