The 71-year-old woman was hit around 4 p.m. while trying to cross at the tracks between Catherine Street and Lauzon Line.
The victim was pronounced deceased at the scene. Police have not disclosed her identity.
The area was closed to traffic for several hours while investigators processed the scene.
Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
