Novice driver charged with impaired driving

A new driver is facing charges after Ontario Provincial Police in Leamington were called to a single-vehicle crash Wednesday afternoon.

Around 4:45 p.m., OPP found a car in a ditch on Mersea Road 2 at Carr Avenue. There were two people in the vehicle and neither was injured.

Officers say they determined the driver had previously consumed alcohol.

The 25-year-old from Kingsville was charged with operation while impaired with a blood alcohol concentration of 80 plus, operation while prohibited, being a novice driver with a blood alcohol concentration above zero, having unauthorised plates, and possessing more than one license.

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Windsor.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
