High levels of air pollution are possible this afternoon.

An AIR QUALITY WARNING is in place due to the possibility of deteriorating air quality. Hot and sunny conditions are expected to cause increasing ground-level ozone concentrations this afternoon. Moderate risk AQHI values are expected throughout the day with the potential of short-term high risk AQHI values in the afternoon.

When air pollution levels are high, everyone should limit time outdoors. Consider reducing or rescheduling outdoor sports, activities and events.

You may experience mild and common symptoms such as eye, nose and throat irritation, headaches or a mild cough. More serious but less common symptoms include wheezing, chest pains or severe cough. If you think you are having a medical emergency, seek immediate medical assistance.

People more likely to be impacted by outdoor air pollution, including people aged 65 and older, pregnant people, infants and young children, people with an existing illness or chronic health condition, and people who work outdoors, should reduce or reschedule strenuous activities outdoors and seek medical attention if experiencing symptoms.

A new driver is facing charges after Ontario Provincial Police in Leamington were called to a single-vehicle crash Wednesday afternoon.Around 4:45 p.m., OPP found a car in a ditch on Mersea Road 2 at Carr Avenue. There were two people in the vehicle and neither was injured.Officers say they determined the driver had previously consumed alcohol.The 25-year-old from Kingsville was charged with operation while impaired with a blood alcohol concentration of 80 plus, operation while prohibited, being a novice driver with a blood alcohol concentration above zero, having unauthorised plates, and possessing more than one license.The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Windsor.
