Suspect arrested after armed robbery

A 24-year-old is facing charges after an armed robbery at a downtown business Tuesday afternoon.

Windsor police were called to to the store on University Avenue near Church Street around 1 p.m.

Officers were told a man entered the store, concealed several items, and tried to leave without paying. When the person was confronted by a security guard, they pointed a firearm at the employee, struck him in the face, and took off.

Investigators say they reviewed surveillance footage and identified a suspect.

The 24-year-old was arrested on Glengarry Avenue later that day, and an imitation firearm was seized. The person was charged with robbery with an offensive weapon, breach of probation, and failure to comply with a release order.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
